Welcome to HLTH 437 - Health Promotion Methods at Brigham Young University!

Public health is an exciting field of practice that requires the professional to work closely with communities and other groups to ensure conditions that will promote health. Health Promotion Methods will provide you with important and effective public health education tools to use in various community and public health education settings.

Emphasis will be placed on several key strategies that have demonstrated success in making a real difference at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, and governmental level. These broad health promotion success strategies include but are not limited to communication/education, community mobilization and organization, and policy development aimed at preventing disease and injury in various target populations.

Success in achieving the goals of health promotion requires a comprehensive and coordinated approach. Beyond the exploration of public health education strategies this course will require that you actively participate in researching and creating public health interventions that have the greatest probability of success.
